IF anyone at all needs confirmation that Sennachie was a superstar on the racetrack, they only need to watch the replay of his final race start … the Group 1 Gold Bullion at Albion Park.

Set the scene.

He is drawn the “horror” box five and pitted against the superstar brothers Good Odds Harada and Feral Franky.

Harada won the $1 Million Chase in 29.34 at Wentworth Park and the G1 Dapto Megastar in near record time. Franky won the G1 Vic Peters and earned a “cult” following for his wonderful deeds around the country.

Sennachie EXPLODED out of box five, set up a winning lead at the first turn and then proceeded to win by 10 lengths!

YES, he beat runner-up Good Odds Harada by 10 lengths with Feral Franky third.

Neither of the brothers had any excuses. Sennachie was as dominant as any dog has ever been in a Group 1 final.  And, he ran 29.41 just a tick outside his own Albion Park track record of 29.38.

No one, not even the sternest critic of any greyhound to have ever lived, could not be impressed by that performance. Devastating is an underestimation.

There is a formula among some astute breeders that they will only use a stud dog if he has the perfect pedigree, ran a track record, won multiple Group 1s and came from a litter of high quality performers. OK, those credentials do not necessarily guarantee success for a dog at stud … but it goes a long way to putting them on that path.

Sennachie (Fernando Bale-Rhonda Rocks by Kinloch Brae) retires to stud with all those criteria. In fact, Sennachie has everything a broodbitch owner could ask for … and even more, more and more. He is the ultimate Group 1 performer having thrashed a field of stars in the age classic the Maturity, then gone to Albion Park to win the Group 1 Brisbane Cup. And, with total disregard for the reputations of those pitted against him, he annihilated that field of greats to win the Group 1 Bold Bullion.

Along the way he eclipsed the Albion Park 520m track record of 29.38 a record regarded by most as one of the toughest, if not THE toughest, in the land. You MUST remember, track record breakers historically make the best stud dogs. They have the next generation of speed waiting for the broodbitches they mate … to upgrade their offspring.

When it was all said and done, Sennachie raced just 32 times for 18 wins and eight placings snapping up $696,000 in purses.

Add to those Group 1 victories, he also won the Group 2 Qld Derby (Albion Park 29.53), Group 3 Golden Ticket (Albion Park 29.39) and the Launching Pad Consolation.

He ran second in the Group 1 Silver Chief, Group 2 Speed Star 515m, third in the Group 1 Adelaide Cup and was a finalist in the Group 1 Topgun and Group 3 Flying Amy Classic.

The $100,000 Flying Amy Classic, named in honour of the Hall of Famer who had also set an Albion Park track record (of 29.73), was going to be Sennachie’s but he was knocked out of the race on the home turn when looming up to win.

Wherever Sennachie went, he scorched … just check out his winning times.

His three best times around Albion Park are the best times EVER at that track.

And, he is no one-hit wonder.

By the champion race dog and sire Fernando Bale, his dam Rhonda Rocks raced just twice for a 29.89 debut win at Angle Park. She is a litter sister to Angie Rocks (2nd G1 Sapphire Crown, G3 SA Oaks etc, 13 wins, $114,000), Jaycee (19 wins, $80,000) and a half sister to Trixta Rox (finalist G1 Maturity and G2 Launching Pad). Sennachie is from a fabulous litter of nine named offspring all of them winners that also includes the very fast Alfieri (TR Murray Bridge), Bailey Rocks, Gwydion (Group 1 finalist), Red Rock (Group 3 finalist) etc. This is the famous Hoppy’s Star/Sydney Gem direct damline.

His pedigree:

He is bred on a 2×2 cross of Chloe Allen and Punk Rock Lass and they are bred identically. They both carry Primo Uno, Black Shiraz (as well as his brother Big Ginger Boy), Head Honcho and the Wheeler direct damline to Gail’s Beauty.

But, Gable Dodge (3rd sire of Sennachie) and Kinloch Brae (damsire of Sennachie) bring in the littermates Lucky Artist and Exception … a hugely proven cross in the US.

While it might appear Sennachie is bred only on a 3×4 duplication of Primo Uno, this is far from the case. He actually has a hugely saturated pedigree. AND, most of the very best stud dogs this country has seen have boasted a heavily in-bred pedigree. That’s because such in-breeding allows those stud dogs to dominate the broodbitches they mate.

Legend stud dogs like Temlee, Black Top, Head Honcho all carried intense in-breeding in their pedigrees. There are numerous other examples. The intense 2×3 line breeding to the identically bred Chloe Allen and Punk Portrait is such that it will allow Sennachie to dominate the majority of broodbitches he will mate … a perfect recipe for stud success.

Sennachie has a pedigree that will be oh so attractive to breeders. Mating to him will mean utilising all aspects of his pedigree, but mostly his damline which will be so influential. It always is when looking at stud dogs. Kinloch Brae, as his damsire, will be a dominant ancestor in the pedigree of Sennachie and much of his success in Australia can be utilised when planning matings for Sennachie. Sennachie will be absolutely ideal for bitches that carry Collision, Bombastic Shiraz and Go Wild Teddy. That’s because the best progeny sired by Kinloch Brae in Australia are generally out of bitches with any of this trio. All three have Malawi’s Prince as the sire of their mother.

Kinloch Brae’s direct damline is saturated with the same blood as Malawi’s Prince.

Collision’s close relation Cosmic Rumble will also suit potential matings to Sennachie. He has already done exceptionally well with Sennachie’s sire Fernando Bale (i.e. G1 winner West On Augie). Kinloch Brae’s direct damline has done great with the Where’s Pedro line (champion Destini Fireball is bred this way) so bitches with Where’s Pedro in particular in their pedigree will also suit Sennachie.

Barcia Bale has also done well with the Kinloch Brae damline (e.g. Dublin Bull and Crimson Vixen) so his daughters can be mated to Sennachie with great confidence.

Barcia Bale’s genetic sister Searle Bale was also mated to Sennachie’s sire Fernando Bale to produce G1 Australian Cup winner Hecton Bale.

The cross of Vapour Whirl (sire of Sennachie’s second dam) is perfect for bitches with the similarly bred Bombastic Shiraz in their make-up (G1 star Lightning Frank has this cross in his dam).

Sennachie also has no Brett Lee (or his brother Trendy Leigh) or his half brother Big Daddy Cool in his pedigree so he can certainly mate bitches with these.

The fact there are two crosses of the Gail’s Beauty family in Sennachie means as many bitches with Wheeler bloodlines in them should be mated to Sennachie as possible.

There are numerous available.

But, having a double of Primo Uno also allows even more of the “Portrait” family to be brought in. Not necessarily with more Primo Uno, but from this same family. Look at the pedigree of Shimaguni to see she is saturated with this damline. Cosmic Chief bitches will suit because he is from this damline, and so is Meticulous.

Daughters of Kilty Lad (from the Primo Uno damline) with also be especially suited. Fernando Bale’s champion litter brothers Poke The Bear (G1 Topgun) and Out Of Range (G1 Maturity, G1 Nat Derby) are bred this way.

Bitches by Velocette (bred along similar lines to Punk Rock Lass) who has a cross of Head Honcho’s sire Walkabout Sid will suit Sennachie.

Of the newer sires, Zambora Brockie bitches will suit perfectly. He has a cross of US bloodlines in his damline but also a cross of Trendy Leigh.

Daughters of Worm Burner, bred along very similar lines to Fernando Bale, will also suit Sennachie. He puts in strength into his pups.

Because Sennachie has lots of US bloodlines, via his grandsire Kelsos Fusileer and through Kinloch Brae, he can also utilise the great degree of US bloodlines in Aussie bitches. But, Kinloch Brae has done spectacularly well when mating bitches with Larkhill Jo in their pedigree in Ireland. He is found in the damline of Fabregas and his half brother Sonic Flight is in Bekim Bale. Obviously bitches by those two will suit as well.

Kinloch Brae has done wonders with the Larkhill Jo line in the UK producing many, many great gallopers.

Sennachie’s retirement to stud has been long awaited, right from the moment he scored to a 29.50 victory as a maiden at Angle Park and not long after won the Group 1 Maturity.

Broodbitch owners need wait no longer.

He’s here!
